What to Expect With Invisalign Treatment
A comprehensive exam is the first step in any treatment process. You or your child will meet with one of our experienced orthodontists, who will discuss all of your treatment options, including Invisalign. We will map your entire treatment plan virtually during this appointment by utilizing the latest 3D imaging technology to create a digital impression of your teeth and jaws. This technique allows us to create the customized series of aligners you will be wearing throughout your treatment.
In general, each set of clear aligners is worn for 1 week at a time and is only removed to eat, drink, brush, or floss. This usually means that the aligners must be worn for a minimum of 22 hours a day. A new set of clear aligners will be worn for the following week, and so on, until you have achieved your ideal smile.
Most patients complete their treatment after a total of 18–30 sets of aligners over the course of 9–15 months; however, since each Invisalign treatment is customized for every patient, you may find that your specific treatment may vary from these averages. You will need to visit our office approximately every 12 weeks to ensure treatment is progressing as expected, which is less often than you would need to visit for traditional braces.
How Does Invisalign Move Teeth?
Invisalign clear aligners work by using advanced align technology to gradually shift teeth. Every aligner is custom-made to fit your smile, and each aligner in your series is slightly different than the one before it. The changes in your aligners exert pressure onto your teeth in order to fit the new aligner shape. Over time, this moves the teeth into their proper positions.

Do teeth move back after Invisalign?
It's normal for teeth to shift slightly after you have completed your Invisalign treatment. Teeth are more likely to shift in the first few months after you stop wearing aligners. Wearing a retainer as much as possible during this time and afterwards will keep your teeth in their new positions.
When will I see results from Invisalign?
Treatment times will vary. Some patients see results after just two weeks, while others notice changes after several months. Your teeth will change over time, not right away, so be patient with your aligners. The more you wear your aligners, the faster you will see results.
Can Invisalign fix crooked teeth?
Invisalign aligners can sometimes fix crooked teeth. If a tooth requires more rotation or tilting than 20 degrees, braces are often necessary to correct it.
Should I sleep with Invisalign trays in?
